Royston Turquoise Squash blossoms

Royston Turquoise Squash blossoms
Subject #0017078

This Royston Turquoise squash blossom pendant is set in recycled silver and rooted in both material history and symbolic design. The Royston mining district, located outside of Tonopah, Nevada, originally consisted of four historic turquoise claims—Bunker Hill, Easter Blue, Oscar Wehrend, and Royal Blue—each contributing to the rich legacy of Royston turquoise.

The squash blossom design carries deep significance in Southwestern jewelry traditions. Often associated with abundance, protection, and continuity, the motif draws influence from early Spanish and Indigenous forms, with the crescent-shaped naja symbol historically worn as a protective emblem. Over time, the design evolved into a statement of status, celebration, and enduring strength—meant to be worn prominently and with intention.

Royston turquoise is prized for its vibrant blue to blue-green hues and distinctive matrix, revealing the geological story of the land in which it formed. Many of the original Royston claims are no longer actively producing, making this stone a finite expression of place and time.

Set with care and respect, this squash blossom pendant is more than adornment—it is a preserved piece of Western history and symbolism, crafted to be worn, honored, and carried forward as a living heirloom.

Stone Meanings:

Turquoise: Strengthens the whole body, good for strengthening lungs, promotes absorption of nutrients, tissue regeneration and circulation. Protects from harmful environment pollutants and poisons. Saves the wearer from problems on a journey or adventure. Destroys hatred and increases love.

In jewellery, turquoise carries more than colour; it carries memory. Each stone forms slowly over time, shaped by minerals and environment, making no two alike. To wear turquoise is to wear history—a reminder that beauty deepens with age, and meaning is found in what endures
